Norway rarely appears in the true-crime record, and the case I have mapped here reflects that. The country is known far more for its low crime rates than for any pattern of violence, which is part of why the events of 2011 left such a deep mark.
The case documented here is the attacks of July 22, 2011: a bombing of government buildings in Oslo followed by the shooting at the youth camp on Utoya island, which together killed 77 people. I research each entry by hand and place it where it happened, so for Norway that means one carefully documented case, with the details below.
