True Crime Cases in Mexico

The cases I've mapped here in Mexico are few, but each one stayed with the public long after the headlines faded. I research every case by hand before adding it to the map.

One is the work of Juana Barraza, the former wrestler known as La Mataviejitas, who strangled elderly women in Mexico City before her 2006 arrest. Another is the 2014 disappearance of 43 students in Iguala, an attack that implicated local police. A third follows the 2022 death of law student Debanhi Escobar near Monterrey, found in a motel cistern after she vanished.
