True Crime Cases in Haiti

1 documented case spanning 2021–2021 . Each case is researched from public sources, with locations, perpetrators, victims and video coverage.

Haiti's place in the record I keep here rests on a single case so far: the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in Port-au-Prince. An armed commando, made up largely of former Colombian soldiers, stormed his private residence in Pétion-Ville and shot him dead.

I research every case I map by hand, and this is the one documented here for Haiti. It sits among the political killings I have traced elsewhere, a reminder of how often power and violence intersect. As I find and verify more, the cases mapped here will grow.
