Pakistan's place in the true-crime record rests on a small number of cases, and the ones I've mapped here are among the most documented. The best known is Javed Iqbal, the Lahore man who in 1999 confessed to the murders of 100 boys, dissolving the bodies in acid. The case shocked the country and remains one of the most disturbing on file.
The other entry is more recent and very different: the 2020 courtroom shooting of Tahir Naseem, a US citizen on trial for blasphemy in Peshawar, killed inside the courtroom by a teenage gunman during a hearing.
