True Crime Cases in Canada
3 documented cases spanning 1983–2012 . Each case is researched from public sources, with locations, perpetrators, victims and video coverage.
The Canadian cases I've mapped here are among the most studied in the country's criminal record. They include Robert Pickton, who murdered women, many of them sex workers, on his pig farm outside Vancouver, and Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, the couple whose crimes against teenage girls in Ontario unsettled the nation for years.
Also documented here is the 2012 Montreal killing of student Jun Lin by Luka Magnotta, a case that drew international attention after the act was filmed and body parts were mailed across the country. Each entry I research by hand, working from the available reporting and court records.
These are a small set of cases, not a portrait of an entire country. I've placed them on the map to show where they happened and to keep the record clear, factual, and grounded in what is known.
