True Crime Cases in Austria

1 documented case spanning 2006–2006 . Each case is researched from public sources, with locations, perpetrators, victims and video coverage.

Austria is not a country I associate with a long true-crime record, but it holds one case I keep returning to: the abduction of Natascha Kampusch. In 1998 a ten-year-old girl was taken on her way to school in Strasshof an der Nordbahn and held in a concealed cellar by Wolfgang Priklopil.

She remained captive for more than eight years before escaping in 2006. Priklopil took his own life soon after. It is a story of survival as much as of crime, and it is the one I have mapped here for Austria.

The marker links to what I have documented so far. As with every country, I add cases only when I have researched them carefully and can place them with confidence.
